Could the deciding factor be the noise?

Not arguing about whether a Conroe would fit in the iMacIntel case - but wondering whether the extra heat would result in extra noise from the cooling fans.

The iMacIntel doesn't have to as fast as it possibly can, especially since the New Form-Factor Conroe Mini-Tower/Home-Theatre Mac® will be there for people who want a bit more power without the size and cost of the maxi-tower ProMacIntel.Noise could be an issue in the iMac. Still, even the Rev. C iMac G5 was much quieter then the Rev. B.

The only noise my iMac Core Duo makes is when it wakes from sleep and reading the SuperDrive.

The SB documentation says it supports Compute Shader 4, a subset of the DirectX 11 level Compute Shader 5.

What that means in terms of OpenCL, I don't know.

Intel said they'll continue to evaluate OpenCL during 2011.
It doesn't mean anything, as I've noted about three times already.

I consider myself more a creative person, as I've been into photography since junior high in the seventies. The whole computer geekish stuff is more a passing interest, rather than a lifestyle (I really like sci-fi, but like a lot of other movies too).

When I use my old 12" iBook G3, or my 14" iBook G4 in public, I usually get - wow, cool.

When I use my Dell from work, or my Compaq laptop, people look at me as nerdy (they come up and ask if I could help them connect to the network).

I'm tempted to go onto the above Zune website and hold a contest to see who has the best post as far as Zune being better than an iPod....

Then, gift the winner "White and Nerdy" video from Wierd Al...

Oh wait, Zune Marketplace doesn't do music videos, and the Zune won't play iTunes Store music videos either...

Oh, they'll all switch to Avid to avoid learning a new interface, but of course, they won't have to learn a new interface to use Avid instead of FCP :rolleyes: . Not everyone who is a video editor has been around since the time of the dinosaurs. You're complaining that an automobile isn't a horse, so it must be inferior to the horse. Aye, now we only need the rest of the computer. Basically, just build a Mac Mini in a mini/midi tower, with a mainboard that allows you to install new hardware. And try to keep the price low.

Once they enable the use of other iOS devices as wireless controllers then i'll be interested.

Cringely comes up with some interesting thoughts, I'll say that :) There are much more mundane possibilities, like a keyboard to facilitate content purchases or iPod connectivity.

A non-issue for the 3 iPhones in my account. We have used cases on all iPhones we've had.

Sounds like CR is trolling for free publicity. Antenna and reception issues have been an issue with all cell phones from the very beginning.

I hope to god they don't use bluetooth. I've had nothing but bad sound quality with those types of headphones.

Knowing Apple, if they are going in introduce wifi/bluetooth, they will only add the feature if it is up to their standards.
