Appointment on 29th June means your papers should reach latest by 19th [4 days is for weekend and one day is overlap].....

I had a bad experience when I went for interview at Mumbai consulate - When I reached the office they told me my appointment has been cancelled reason - document did not reach as per the expected time....I had to spend 10 days to get the next appointment...It was not a problem for me as I am from Mumbai...

Make sure you reach atleast 2 hours before your appointment time. local hawaldars make a mess of people standing in queue...

Based on what I read, it seems like we do not need to return our existing I-94s while entering Canada. Is this true if you enter either by Air or Land?

I am in H1 and filed for 485 and EAD, AP. Still have my H1B visa in my passport. Does getting EAD mean you are no more in H1? Or you really have to USE it to be out of H1.

The general consensus is that only using an EAD invalidates H1.

I have a question and would really appreciate if some one can provide guidance.

My brother (currently in USA) got his H1B approved and he plans to go to US embassy in Ottawa to get the visa. We know that the H1B visa can take days to get approved due to administrative processing; therefore, he plans to give the interview to the US embassy and then leave for Pakistan.

My question is that in how many days my bro has to go back again to US embassy in Ottawa to collect his visa after the embassy informs him that his visa is back from administrative processing and is ready for stamping.

For example lets say my BRO gives the interview to US embassy on 2nd Dec. and then leaves for Pakistan on 4th Dec (since the actual time of administrative processing is unknown) and now lets say on 15 Dec. the US embassy informs him that his visa is ready and he can come for stamping (collect). So now in how many days my brother has to report to the embassy to get his visa stamp on his passport?

Does any have any idea about it !!!!

How do we get other's in similar situation and see if IV can get some clarificationas to the status and present backlog of background check applicants.

FBI had eliminated all backlog to less than six months and what happened to USCIS continuing to process the application for cases that FBI has not responded within six months.

IV can they collect a few applicants and then look into a class action WOM. (writ of Mandamus).

485 approved on August 31st. Approved 3 weeks after I sent out the RFE.

I have had the same problem. I have contributed $700 so far, but any attempts to access donor forum was just left to emails where Pappu would point to some other guy. This guy would mess up my profile and I would be left with interupted access to even my non-donor profile.

The moment I cancelled monthly contribution off, I got an email and then some prompt follow ups. I explained my case and got a phone number to follow up which I did not call. Why should I?

I understand this site is not run by dedicated professionals, but what about folks who have contributed not just in terms of money but by participating, acting on action items, promoting IV? Why cant you just give access to donor forums to folks who contributed in excess of atleast $500? (just to satiate my selfish limit)?

6 Months back I had to sent visa stamping documents to Tricy and had just 10 days ( 6 working days) to get the documents there.

I went to USPS and tracking was bad.

You can track the package till it enters India and after which they use Indian Postal Service Express service locally. So, there was no tracking available from Mumbai to Trichy.

About 1 Week after they received the package, USPS website updated saying package was delivered.

Sent Package on Saturday Afternoon and they received it on Thursday.
If you need piece of mind and track the package all the way, go with Fedex

2 Weeks back my teammate sent Visa documents to his parents through Fedex

Fedex : ( Friday Evening and reached them on Thursday Evening) - Paid $102

Regardless of whether everyone gets their Green Cards or not, the numbers should definitely see a substantial jump.
we are entering into the last quarter, where according to the new rules, everything that has not been allocated will be opened up for retrogressed categories for that FY.
Which actually explained why they pushed EB2 so far back, so that they can bring it forward in the last quarter, i.e. the July bulletin.

On the whole issue of EB retrogression, This current batch of EB based green cards have waited the longest number of years in the history of green cards.
So, sooner or later, someone in the goverment will have to answer why is that they let so many people apply green cards when they did not have a numbers solution ready.

Why were we even allowed to file for Green Cards when they could only issue a certain number based on the Country of Birth, each year.

This is like sell a product to someone, send him an invoice, and he comes back and says, sorry, we have a country wise quota, so even if we bought these goods from you, we wont pay you cos the quota for this year is up.

No, literally, export quotas work that way, they put a quota on sourcing, not on payments.
Why not do the same on Green Cards?

So, this whole mess, what is the right amount of time (in years), that it starts turning into a 'rights' issue from a 'flawed process' issue.

Currently, unless we have some representative in the government, who sees this flaw as a real issue, it is only us non-immigrants who can push this harder, and generate that representative, who instead of sliding this issue along with some big Financial bill, lobbies hard to get this issue resolved, as a separate entity..
