Beach bunny: Coleen Rooney spent her day soaking up the sun yesterday - as husband Wayne kept out of the Rays to protect his new hair transplant

At £30,000, it's quite an expensive hair do - so it stands to reason that Wayne Rooney is staying out of the sun to protect his new hair transplant, despite being on holiday in sunny Barbados.

In fact, it seems that the striker's wife Coleen, 25, is soaking up enough sun for two of them instead.

As the pair embarked on day three of their family holiday in Barbados, Coleen spent another day prone on a sunbed as Wayne, 25, kept himself indoors and out of the UV rays while looking after their little boy Kai.

Coleen also debuted yet another new bikini with an abstract mauve pattern - as if to send the message that she and her husband are definitely having a purple patch right now.

The WAG and fashion designer was also seen showing off her bikini body in the sunshine and relaxed her regime to enjoy an ice cold beer in the tropical heat.

New growth: Wayne posted up a picture to show how his hair transplant had progressed - but his head looked a bit purple

Meanwhile, Wayne showed off the latest stirrings on his scalp by posting up a picture on his Twitter page - naturally, taken indoors at their £5m Caribbean mansion.

However, though the Manchester United and England star claimed that it was settling down, it still looked rather sore and after time spent in the sun without a hat, a little sunburned.

Though Wayne has mostly been keeping it covered with a baseball hat, he's still been spotted out on the sands with his barnet bare.

However, he wrote: 'The new hair is coming on people. Swelling gone down #hairwego .'

Caribbean queen: Coleen keeps some water and suncream close by as she enjoys her day on the beach too

His wife Coleen had revealed that the temperatures were a bit much for her husband anyway, writing on her Twitter: 'On the beach, too hot for wayne ha! #hothothot'
Experts warn that too much exposure to rays so soon after the operation could cause the grafts to fail or even change the colour of the hair to make the plugs more noticeable.

In fact, some surgeons recommend keeping the transplant out of direct sunlight for a minimum of four months.

This is because any site where the skin has been cut becomes more sensitive to light, particularly ultraviolet.

The new plugs also can't protect themselves from over exposure to UV rays and the sun can prevent the transplanted follicles from establishing to their new blood supply - leading them to die.

One hair transplant surgeon told a hair loss website: 'I had a patient who received a sunburn within a month after his transplant.

'He visited the office because of the swelling and asked me to treat it. What I noticed was that while the skin around the transplants became VERY red, the sites where the grafts were implanted were totally WHITE.'

Back to baby: Coleen calls it a day on the beach and returns to the Rooney residence to see husband Wayne and baby Kai

The patient had to be treated with steroids in a desperate move to ease his discomfort - and thankfully saved his new hair.

Meanwhile, despite the designer bikinis, Coleen was keeping it real when she and Wayne went out to dinner last night as her parents looked after baby Kai.

She posted a picture of herself on her Twitter page wearing one of her own designs for catalogue firm Littlewoods.

She wrote: 'Just leaving for dinner in barbados in my Coleen (littlewoods) dress!!!;

New hair: Wayne Rooney removed his cap after a day in the sunshine in Barbados to reveal the effects of his hair transplant and displayed a nasty-looking scar on the right hand side of his head

He tweeted a picture of his new hair before jetting off to the Caribbean to enjoy a family holiday.

But after keeping the results of his transplant under his hat for most of the day Wayne Rooney removed his cap to show off his thickened hairline at the end of the day yesterday.

The Manchester United footballer had been enjoying a day at the luxurious Sandy Lane resort in Barbados when he unearthed his new barnet.

Thin on top? As Rooney bowed his head to take off his cap his new hairline could be seen although he was still sporting sparse hair on his head following the cosmetic procedure

But with his pale skin perhaps Rooney should have been keeping the tender area on his head completely covered as after a day in the sunshine the footballer was displaying a T-shirt line tan, with bright pink arms and a red neck.

Coleen managed to fare better than her husband and showed off an impressive tan despite only being in the sunshine for one day.

With Wayne free in between football seasons, the Rooneys have headed to their £5million holiday home on the island.

Family day: Earlier in the day Wayne had been keeping things under his hat and covered his pale complexion with a T-shirt

And as expected, the WAG, was showing off the latest acquisition of her designer bikini collection.

The Littlewoods designer, 25, displayed her curves figure in a purple halterneck zig zag bikini.

Earlier in the day her husband Wayne made sure he covered up his pale complexion in a T-shirt and shorts - as well as his recent hair transplant under a red baseball cap.

Strolling along the beach at the Sandy Lane Resort, the Manchester United striker, looked every inch the doting dad as he played with Kai on the beach.

The family arrived in Barbados last night after jetting over from Manchester airport.
Coleen was understandably apprehensive about boarding the nine-hour flight with their 18-month-old son Kai.

She Tweeted on Monday: 'On our way to the airport!! Can't wait to get there but gonna be a fun flight with a active little boy.'

After a follower recommended a portable DVD player, Coleen admitted she already had one and he was watching it.

Once she arrived, she updated her followers: 'Here in sunny Barbados safe and sound!!! Just in the kids pool making friends haha x.'

Come to mummy: Coleen entertains her son in the warm Caribbean sea

Coleen visits Barbados several times a year, while Wayne only gets to fly to the Caribbean in between football seasons.

It's the first time they've returned to the island as a couple since Wayne was embroiled in scandal last September when he was reported to have slept with two prostitutes while Coleen was pregnant with Kai.

While the WAG has enjoyed a few vacations since the furore, they've only holidayed together once since, last October.

Wayne and Coleen left Kai in the care of her parents to enjoy a week long break at the seven star Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai.

Time out: The holiday is some rare family time for the trio

The couple jetted off to the £2,000-a-night hotel after Wayne secured a huge payrise after threatening to leave Manchester United.

The Rooneys have been fond of Barbados for years and built a £5million house on the island's 500-acre Royal Westmoreland development last year.

The six bedroom villa comes with an infinity pool and breathtaking sea views from the bedroom, and the living room areas.

Other familiar celebrity faces with holiday homes on Barbados includes ex-boxing champion Joe Calzaghe, Wayne's team-mate Rio Ferdinand, Gary Lineker, cricketer Freddie Flintoff, and TV hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Making a day of it: Coleen Rooney and cousin-in-law Claire (far right) look excited in the stands at Wembley Stadium before kick-off

She'd travelled all the way from Liverpool to London to watch Barcelona beat Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League final.

But things weren't so bad for Coleen Rooney as she watched her husband Wayne score the only goal at Wembley Stadium last night.

The WAG, 25, left her son Kai in the care of her parents as she turned the football match in a girls' day out with some of her closest friends.

Mrs Rooney, her husband's cousin Claire Rooney and their pal Amy Louise Wilkinson travelled on a Virgin First Class train from Liverpool to Euston to the big game.

Clearly in good spirits ahead of the game, the trio quaffed a bottle of Veuce Cliquot champagne.

And the mother-of-one looked very chic for the terraces in her white blazer, black shirt and jeans after changing out of her train outfit in her hotel.

Despite Barcelona winning 3-1, Coleen proved a diplomatic supporter of her husband's team.

She Tweeted: 'Oh no!!! Well done Wayne Rooney!! And congrats Barca, you play brilliant!!! Entertaining match and just great to be here and witness!'

Throughout the 90 minutes and during her journey on the train, Coleen frequently updated her Twitter followers with her thoughts.

At the beginning of the match, she Tweeted: 'Yeh it's brill but never thought I get nervous over a game of footie ha.'

Nervous: Mrs Rooney - wheeling her designer Louis Vuitton luggage behind her - admitted she was nervous ahead of the game

But it wasn't all fun and games - she ended up in a Twitter argument after a follower joked 'is Wayne playing tonight?'.

Coleen wrote: 'Take it you haven't paid your tv licence again!!! beenbuyingpies...
'Who ate all the pies?'
